0 cost spirits and ideas?!

Post  Bolmeteus on Sat Jul 28, 2012 8:03 pm

hello experts, i have another question that bumps up in my head since i saw first spirits with incredible low core costs, in BS 18 regard, look:

do you think such cards could ruin the game(play)?

i mean what sense makes a deck built around high cost (and good effects ok...) spirits, if strategic decks full of such lowest cost spirits can be supported by some spells to make them stronger, and whatever, if such low cost decks take your life cores quicker than you say battle-spirits?!

Looks pretty strong to me. However there are many possible counters in the game. Flame Dance and Flame tempest can kill that creature, you can exhaust it with binding thorns. Plus there's this card: http://battle-spirits.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sapphire_Empty_Sky which renders this spirit useless.

thnx for your discussion, ok, here my addition:

what is more logical OR more often used by players:

A) a flood of low cost spirits (that can normally attack-able AND have a gem), or

B) that the opponent has 1, or 2 or 3 cards (even at max. 3x in deck), which are exactly restricted-effect against such spirits?

see my point, of course a normal designed tcg/ccg game with 10 or 15 or currently 18 booster sets has something against everything..., question
is the balance and what makes more sense to use. if you have no opponent with low cost spirits, your cool anti-cards make no sense on your hand.

I guess it depends on the deck you run. A red deck, for example, focuses on destruction, particularly these small spirits, in order to wipe out the opponent quickly (at least that was what I know-I'm not sure if with the new sets red has shifted focus). Then of course you'd want flame dance and flame tempest in, because they'd be handy for what you have in store.
A purple deck wants to destroy creatures by depleting core, so it has the capability of handling these kinds of spirits.
White has liorider, which not only surpasses this spirit's BP, it can auto-refresh so it destroys any attempts at zerg rush (which you'll want to pull off if your using this purple guy).
I guess you just have to find ways, make sure your "anti" cards can still work favorably and avoid being dead cards when the cards they were supposed to stop end up not showing.

zerg rusch is very nice word use;-)

but:

all that goes not directly on my initial question:

even with "some" direct anti-cards, does such zero-cost-but-has-gem card gameplay not truly damage the game design?!

I have to admit, maybe it does, because it forces players to run anti-cards and assume the opponent is going to run spirits like these. That's why players must make sure the anti cards still function even if the card they counter ends up being a no show in the duel.

thnx slifer:-)

and maybe it is considered as extreme CHOICE. for some relevant risk, you CAN try such a deck/zerg rush with lowest costs. since i have zero tournament experience i will never know;-)

can you please also talk to me at my brave exchange question in other thread, i really need advice, input, opinions there.

that Mini strategy did work and known as the only "1st turn kill" deck back in the early of Battle Spirits. But now having more Burst effects... you hardly will get the done...and when you failed to do that. you will found yourself 0 hand. so, Battle spirits is quite Balanced game.
